VANN CROSSROADS - A bridge in Sampson County will remain closed to traffic until further notice.
N.C. Department of Transportation maintenance crews closed the structure on Keener Road over Great Coharie Creek late last week after completing a routine inspection. Crews found bearing issues on multiple beams in multiple spans.
At this time, it is unclear if immediate repairs will be made. The bridge, built in 1967, is scheduled to be replaced next summer.
Those that need access to either side of the closure can take Church, Juniper, Roanoke, Bradshaw and Share Cake roads.
NCDOT advises motorists to take the detour into account when planning their commute and use caution around the closure.
