CHARLOTTE – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will temporarily close the northbound exit ramp from Interstate 77 to Statesville Avenue as part of a $15.3 million contract to improve approximately seven miles of I-85 between exits 36 and 42.
The closure is the second phase of a project to safely remove and rebuild the exiting concrete surface of the interchange ramps. The ramp will close at 9 p.m. Friday, April 29, remaining in place until 6 a.m. Monday, May 9.
Drivers can get around the closure by taking exit 12 (LaSalle Street) to access Statesville Avenue. Drivers exiting from I-77 North will be able to continue to I-85.
NCDOT will display alerts on nearby overhead message boards when possible, in addition to the contractor's portable message signs.
