RALEIGH - The North Carolina Turnpike Authority is continuing construction of the southern portion of the Complete 540 project, which will extend the Triangle Expressway (Toll N.C. 540) from N.C. 55 Bypass to Interstate 40.
On Friday, April 29 at 10 P.M. through Monday, May 2 at 5 A.M. contractors for the project have scheduled a temporary road closure on Holly Springs Road south of Ten Ten Road between Pierce Olive Road and Sunset Lake Road and on Kildaire Farm Road between Arthur Pierce Road and Holly Springs Road. Holly Springs Road will be closed to all traffic between Sancroft Drive and Catherine Place. Kildaire Farm Road will be closed to all traffic between Scot's Towne Lane and Holly Springs Road. The purpose of the closure is to complete construction of the on-site temporary detour road along Holly Springs Road and to tie in the new, relocated alignment for Kildaire Farm Road to connect to Holly Springs Road.
This work is weather dependent. Road closure and detour signs will be installed. Law enforcement will be stationed throughout the closure and detour routes. Access to properties along Holly Springs Road and Kildaire Farm Road will be maintained throughout the scheduled closure from the north or the south.
Drivers are strongly encouraged to plan to avoid the area, if possible. If drivers must be in the area, they are advised to take the detour route(s) by following signs along the roadway. The detour routes will be as follows:
To Holly Springs Road North:
- Holly Springs Road to Sunset Lake Road (turn right on Sunset Lake Road)
- Sunset Lake Road to Optimist Farm Road (turn left on Optimist Farm Road)
- Optimist Farm Road to Pierce Olive Road (turn left on Pierce Olive Road)
- Pierce Olive Road to Holly Springs Road (turn right on Holly Springs Road)
To Holly Springs Road South:
- Holly Springs Road to Pierce Olive Road (turn left on Pierce Olive Road)
- Pierce Olive Road to Optimist Farm Road (turn right on Optimist Farm Road)
- Optimist Farm Road to Sunset Lake Road (turn right on Sunset Lake Road)
- Sunset Lake Road to Holly Springs Road (turn left on Holly Springs Road)
Holly Springs Road to Kildaire Farm Road:
- Holly Springs Road to Sunset Lake Road (turn right on Sunset Lake Road)
- Sunset Lake Road to Optimist Farm Road (turn left on Optimist Farm Road)
- Optimist Farm Road to Pierce Olive Road (turn left on Pierce Olive Road)
- Pierce Olive Road to Holly Springs Road (turn right on Holly Springs Road)
- Holly Springs Road to Arthur Pierce Road (turn left on Arthur Pierce Road)
- Arthur Pierce Road to Kildaire Farm Road (turn right on Kildaire Farm Road)
Kildaire Farm Road to Holly Springs Road:
- Kildaire Farm Road to Arthur Pierce Road (turn left on Arthur Pierce Road)
- Arthur Pierce Road to Holly Springs Road (turn right on Holly Springs Road)
- Holly Springs Road to Pierce Olive Road (turn left on Pierce Olive Road)
- Pierce Olive Road to Optimist Farm Road (turn right on Optimist Farm Road)
- Optimist Farm Road to Sunset Lake Road (turn right on Sunset Lake Road)
- Sunset Lake Road to Holly Springs Road (turn left on Holly Springs Road to continue West)
Drivers should use caution and slow down while traveling through the work zones and detour routes.
