Closures Planned on U.S. 421 in Forsyth County

WINSTON-SALEM – Beginning this weekend, the N.C. Department of Transportation will implement lane and ramp closures on U.S. 421 near Interstate 40 in Forsyth County for three weeks, weather permitting.

On Sunday at 9 p.m., the left lane of Exit 238 off U.S. 421 South towards I-40 East will be closed for about 10 days to allow construction crews to safely make repairs to the bridge deck on the exit. Once work is completed on the left side of the bridge, the left lane closure will be removed and the right lane will be closed for about 11 days.

In conjunction with these lane closures, the exit loop onto I-40 East from the connector ramp between U.S. 421 and I-40 West will also be closed. The exit loop is expected to be closed for approximately 21 days.

Traffic will be detoured to U.S. 421 North, Peace Haven Road and U.S. 421 South to access I-40 East for the duration of the closure.

Motorists should remain alert for work crews and use extra caution when approaching the work zone.
