SYLVA – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will close one lane of traffic on Main Street in Sylva on Friday, Sept. 2, to inspect the bridge over Scotts Creek near the intersection of Municipal Drive, Chipper Cove Road and N.C. 107.
Crews will establish traffic control measures to alternate traffic flow over the bridge from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Local drivers may seek alternate routes.
Inspectors will examine the existing bridge and utilize the information to refine bridge rehabilitation plans as part of the upcoming project to improve N.C. 107 through Sylva.
Transportation officials remind drivers to remain alert and obey all traffic instructions when approaching the work zone.
