Improvements Continue on I-40 in Forsyth County

WINSTON-SALEM – N.C. Department of Transportation contractors have scheduled the next three nights of closures for ongoing maintenance and construction along Interstate 40 in Forsyth County, weather permitting.

The following closures are scheduled from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:

  • Tonight and Thursday, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 East from the US-421/I-40 interchange to Peters Creek Parkway.
  • Tonight through Thursday, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from U.S. 52 to Stratford Road.
  • Wednesday, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 East from Hanes Mall Boulevard to Peters Creek Parkway.

The following closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning:

  • Tonight, the exit ramp from I-40 East to Stratford Road is scheduled to be closed with a detour.
  • Wednesday, the exit ramp from I-40 East to Peters Creek Parkway is scheduled to be closed with a detour.
  • Thursday, the ramp I-40 West from Peters Creek Parkway is scheduled to be closed with a detour. ​

In addition to the above, several other ramps will be closed, including:

  • Tonight, the ramp from Stratford Road to I-40 East is scheduled to be closed with a detour from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. the following morning.
  • Tonight, the ramp from Hanes Mall Boulevard to I-40 East is scheduled to be closed with a detour from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning.  
  • Wednesday, the ramps to I-40 East and I-40 West from Peters Creek Parkway are scheduled to be closed with a detour from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. the following morning.
  • Wednesday, the ramp from Silas Creek Parkway to I-40 East is scheduled to be closed with a detour from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning.  

Motorists should use caution while traveling through the work zones and plan accordingly for delays.
