ASHEVILLE – Construction of a new drainage system will close an exit ramp to Airport Road from Interstate 26 over night.
A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will close the I-26 West ramp to Airport Road (Exit 40) around 8 p.m. tonight to install storm drainage under the ramp. The exit will reopen by 6 a.m.
Traffic will be detoured to Long Shoals Road (Exit 37) then to Hendersonville Road and back to Airport Road. The westbound onramp and eastbound exit ramp will both remain open.
Drivers should plan ahead and schedule the detour into travel plans. This operation is part of the I-26 widening project.
