Repairs on I-40 Require Ramp and Lane Closures in Forsyth County

WINSTON-SALEM – The N.C. Department of Transportation will need to close lanes on multiple exits along Interstate 40 and U.S. 421 for maintenance this weekend.

Beginning Friday at 8 p.m., the left lanes of Exit 188 (I-40 West to U.S. 421 North) and Exit 238 (U.S. 421 South to I-40 East) will be closed to enable construction crews to safely make repairs to the bridge decks located on the exit ramps.

The exit loop onto I-40 East from the connector ramp between U.S. 421 and I-40 West will also be closed in conjunction with the lane closures. Traffic will be detoured to South Peace Haven Road for the duration of the project.

All work is expected to be complete by Sunday night.

Motorists are reminded to use extra caution while driving through the work zones and to plan for delays.
