DENTON – The N.C. Department of Transportation will close several roads in Davidson County over the next couple of weeks for a railroad maintenance project.
The following closures are necessary to allow CSX crews to replace railroad tracks and county maintenance crews to repair asphalt on the roads:
- Work on Old N.C. 109 between Emmons Mine Road and Hayes Harris Road will be complete today.
- Tonight – Dec. 5, Julian Avenue will be closed near N.C. 109/Randolph Street. Traffic will be detoured to N.C. 109/Randolph Street, East Holly Hill Road and back to Julian Avenue.
- Dec. 6-9, Thomas Road will be closed near Old N.C. 52. Traffic will be detoured to Old N.C. 52, Midway School Road and Ridge Road to return to Thomas Road.
Closures previously scheduled for Dec. 12-16 at N.C. 109 near Regan Road and N.C. 109/Randolph Street in Thomasville will be delayed until 2023.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and use extra caution while adjusting to detour routes.
