Four I-295 Bridges Require Maintenance Work

FAYETTEVILLE – Four bridges on Interstate 295 in the Fayetteville area will undergo preservation work this year.

Crews will sandblast the concrete deck, then treat it with a silane sealant. This work will extend the useful life and smoothness of the driving deck. The work will be performed on these bridges:

• I-295 North and South spanning the Norfolk Southern Railroad and Carvers Creek; 

• I-295 South spanning Little Cross Creek; and

• The I-295 flyover ramp carrying traffic onto N.C. 210 North

The work will not require detours; however, the contractor will need to close one of two lanes on each bridge, but only between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday through Friday.

The N.C. Department of Transportation awarded $340,000 contract this month to The Truesdell Corp. of Tempe, Arizona. The contract can begin between April and July, and once started will have about three months to complete the work.
