Two Forsyth County Roads Permanently Closed for Construction Project

WINSTON-SALEM – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will close portions of two roads in Forsyth County as part of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway project.

Beginning Feb. 20, Old Winston Road will be permanently closed between Sedge Garden Road and Kernersville Road. Motorists wishing to travel around the Old Winston Road closure will utilize Kernersville Road and Sedge Garden Road.

Also on Feb. 20, a portion of Oak Grove Church Road will be permanently closed between Kernersville Road and Orvil Lane. Drivers wishing to travel around the Oak Grove Church Road closure will utilize Kernersville Road, Motsinger Drive and Garden View Drive.

These closures are required in order to construct a detour needed for the future Kernersville Road bridge construction, which will eliminate the current four-way intersection of Kernersville Road/Old Winston Road/Oak Grove Church Road.

Preparation work will take place for the next six weeks and construction of the bridge site detour is scheduled for April.

Motorists are reminded to remain alert and plan accordingly for delays when using the alternate routes.
