HENDERSONVILLE – Consecutive overnight closures of Interstate 26 West will allow contract crews to improvement pavement conditions in the Henderson County work zone.
A section of I-26 West between U.S. 64 (Exit 49) and U.S. 25 Business (Exit 44) will close no earlier than 8 p.m. tonight and Tuesday night with the lanes reopening by 6 a.m. the following morning. The marked detour — with longer green lights along the route to accommodate additional interstate traffic — diverts drivers to U.S. 64 West, then U.S. 25 Business north up to I-26.
Crews from Archer-Wright Joint Venture and its subcontractors will repair several sections of pavement to improve safety and overall pavement conditions on the interstate.
These operations are part of the I-26 widening project which will reduce congestion and improve travel times upon completion.
Transportation officials remind drivers to remain alert, travel with care and obey all posted signs approaching and within the construction zone.
