NASHVILLE – About 15 miles of roadway across the Twin Counties will be resurfaced, after the N.C. Department of Transportation last month signed a $1.9 million contract.
The work includes repaving a short section of East Raleigh Boulevard (U.S. 64 Alternate) on the Edgecombe County side of Rocky Mount. The section is less than a half mile long and roughly between the U.S. 64 interchange and Dalewood Drive.
A half-mile section of N.C. 56 near the N.C. 58 north of Castalia also will be repaved, in addition to sections of these 11 secondary routes in Nash County:
- DOT Drive off U.S. 64 Alternate
The contractor, Fred Smith Co. of Raleigh, may start work after May 1 and will have until the fall of 2024 to complete the contract.
