MARVIN – A $950,000 contract awarded recently by the N.C. Department of Transportation will bring improvements to nearly six miles of road in Union County.
Contractor Blythe Construction, Inc. of Charlotte will perform the improvements including milling, resurfacing and shoulder reconstruction for 13 segments of roads in Marvin and Waxhaw, including the following:
- Nellie Lane
- Astrid Court
- Pleasant Spring Road
- Viking Drive
- Prince Valiant Drive
- King Olaf Drive
- Rainbow Drive
- Walden Pond Lane
- Yellow Pine Court
- White Pond Lane
- Wingard Road
- Sandy Pond Lane
- Goose Pond Cove
Work can start as soon as this week. Drivers should prepare for lane closures during off-peak travel times. The contract allows for work to take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the evening and overnight hours. Holiday restrictions are also in place to minimize impacts.
The contract is scheduled for completion in fall 2024.
