CHARLOTTE – Single-lane closures will be implemented on Interstate 77 overnight this week so crews can safely conduct bridge work at the southern junction with I-277.
The closures will be installed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. and will be in a variety of locations on I-77 near mile marker 9, moving as work progresses.
Starting tonight, crews plan to close the right lane of the northbound collector lanes along with the following three ramps:
- Loop from I-277 Outer to I-77 NB (Exit 1C)
- I-77 North to I-277 Outer (Exit 9B)
- Loop from I-77 North to U.S. 74 West (Exit 9C)
Once that work is complete, later in the week, there will be single-lane closures installed on either side of the barrier wall between I-77 North and the northbound collector lanes, followed by single-lane closures on either side of the barrier wall separating I-77 North and South. They will continue this pattern with single-lane closures until they make it across I-77.
Drivers are urged to be cautious when approaching this stretch of I-77 and be mindful of the crews working close to the travel lanes.
