CONOVER – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will close Travis Road between Burris and Mt. Olive Church roads next week to replace the bridge over McLin Creek. The $613,000 contract was awarded last month to Statesville contractor R.E. Burns and Sons Co., Inc.
The bridge will close to traffic Monday morning, July 31. The contract calls for the bridge replacement to be completed by spring 2024. A signed detour will take drivers around the work area along Mt. Olive Church Road, N.C. 16, and Burris Road, returning to Travis Road.
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time to reach their destination.
