CHAPEL HILL - A contractor with the N.C. Department of Transportation has begun daily lane closures on Governors Drive in northern Chatham County.
Fred Smith Co. is resurfacing Governors Drive from Mt. Carmel Church Road to Whippoorwill Lane from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
The work, which consists of milling, paving, and upgrading of pavement markings, will continue Monday through Friday until Sept. 1.
One-lane, one-way traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot trucks during the hours of construction.
Motorists are encouraged to slow down when approaching the work zone and use alternate routes to avoid possible delays.
