RALEIGH – Two ramps along Interstate 440 are scheduled to close for separate durations beginning tonight as part of ongoing work on the Beltline improvements project.
The ramp from I-440 West to Jones Franklin Road (Exit 1C) is scheduled to close from 9 p.m. Friday and reopen by Saturday morning. During this closure, drivers will be directed to take the next exit, I-40, and use the loop ramps to head back up I-440 East to access Jones Franklin Road.
The loop ramp from Jones Franklin Road onto I-440 West is also scheduled to close starting at 9 p.m. Friday and will remain closed through next week – until the morning of Aug. 28. For this closure, northbound Jones Franklin Road traffic will be detoured to Western Boulevard to access I-440 West and southbound Jones Franklin Road traffic will be detoured up I-440 East to the Western Boulevard exit to access I-440 West.
These closures will enable crews to safely construct a permanent ramp and conduct adjacent work along the interstate. They are both weather dependent and subject to change.
Drivers should plan their trips accordingly and watch out for crews throughout the work zone.
