RALEIGH – Crews plan to reopen a section of Hillsborough Street today and activate a traffic signal at the new connection to Blue Ridge Road.
Hillsborough Street has been closed in this area since March, when contract crews began constructing a bridge that carries Hillsborough Street over Blue Ridge Road.
The new bridge and signal are expected to open this evening, and two eastbound lanes of Hillsborough Street are expected to be open between the Blue Ridge Road connector and Interstate 440 just in time for N.C. State's football home opener against Notre Dame at noon this Saturday.
The westbound lanes of Hillsborough Street between the Beltline and the Blue Ridge Road connector are expected to open prior to the N.C. State Fair in October.
Drivers are urged to remember this is an active work zone and be mindful of crews working close to the travel lanes.
