WINSTON-SALEM – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will perform a traffic shift and lane closures on Kernersville Road this weekend, as part of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway project.
Crews will start work along Kernersville Road between Linville Road and Sedge Garden Road, beginning Friday evening, at 7 p.m., weather permitting. As crews work to connect the temporary detour alignment to Kernersville Road, lane closures will be required along Kernersville Road.
Throughout the weekend, motorists should expect delays along Kernersville Road, Sedge Garden Road, Linville Road and Motsinger Drive. Work is scheduled to be completed by 5 a.m. Monday. The work is necessary to allow crews to shift Kernersville Road traffic around the area of the future bridge construction.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area, if possible, to minimize delays. The department asks motorists to plan accordingly and use caution when traveling on the new traffic patterns.
