Public Meeting Set for New Roundabout in Cherokee County

MURPHY – The N.C. Department of Transportation invites the public to learn more about a proposed project to improve safety and traffic flow along U.S. 19/64/74/129 in Cherokee County.

The project will replace previous plans — based on a new Emergency Management Center at the intersection of Old Ranger Road — by creating a two-lane roundabout that includes connections with Marks Drive and Smith Hollow Road.

The drop-in style meeting will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at Tri-County Community College, Enloe Multipurpose Building, 21 Campus Drive in Murphy.

The event will begin with an introduction, followed by a question-and-answer session. Attendees are invited to view the detailed plans at one of three stations operated by project team members. The public is invited to attend at any time.

Project details, including maps and a video, can be found on the NCDOT project webpage

People may also submit comments before Oct. 24, 2023 by phone at 984-205-6615 (enter project code 4198 to leave a message), by email to us74roundabout-murphy@publicinput.com or through the public input portal
