CLAYTON- A section of Interstate 40 is set to close overnight a couple times this week as part of the Complete 540 project.
Weather permitting, westbound I-40 will close between N.C. 42 (Exit 312) and U.S. 70 (Exit 309)
From 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday and Friday nights, possibly Saturday night depending on weather.
Drivers will need to exit at N.C. 42 and travel east to U.S. 70 West to get back onto I-40 West.
Transportation officials remind drivers to remain alert, obey all posted traffic signs and follow instructions of local law enforcement in active work zones.
