CLAYTON – Starting next week as an ongoing Complete 540 project, bridge work will require Interstate 40 West at U.S. 70 (Exit 309) to close.
Weather permitting, westbound I-40 will close at U.S. 70 (Exit 309) at 10 each night Monday-Friday and reopen at 5 a.m. the following mornings.
Drivers will detour at N.C. 42 (Exit 312), take eastbound N.C. 42 to U.S. 70 West back to westbound I-40.
Traffic should use caution when traveling through the detour and be alert to construction crews working in the area.
