CHAPEL HILL – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will begin construction to widen an Orange County bridge requiring nightly closures.
On Sunday, contract crews will start work at the bridge on I-40 over Millhouse Road as part the I-40 widening project. The closure will occur from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night, Sunday through Friday from New Jericho Road to Cell Tower Driveway. The closures are expected to last three weeks.
A Signed detour will be in place to guide drivers around the closure utilizing N.C. 86 and Eubanks Road.
Motorists are urged to slow down near the work site and use caution. NCDOT also encourages people to plan ahead due to the detour.
