Nash County Road Will Temporarily Close for Construction

ROCKY MOUNT – North Old Carriage Road in the vicinity of the U.S. 64 interchange will close for three weeks for roundabout construction.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. April 8 and end by April 29 and will affect all of the ramps at Exit 463. During the closure, a state highway contractor will finish constructing roundabouts at either on/off ramp at this road's interchange with U.S. 64.

Because this closure will extend to Nash Community College alongside North Old Carriage Road, people will need to use the Eastern Avenue roundabout to access the campus.

When the road reopens, drivers will be using the new roundabouts to access U.S. 64.

The detour will utilize these two other U.S. 64 exits, depending on the direction of travel:

  • Red Oak Road (Exit 461)
  • North Winstead Avenue (Exit 466)

Drivers should allow for extra time for their commute and use caution when traveling near the work. The NCDOT webpage provides more information about this project.
