Temporary, Overnight Closure of Craven County Highway

JAMES CITY - As part of the construction to improve U.S. 70 in James City, the N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will need to temporarily close the highway overnight this weekend.

The highway will close in one direction at a time for no more than 30 minutes on April 28 between midnight and 5 a.m. This may be repeated in each direction if needed. The contractor will need to close U.S. 70 at the railroad crossing between Trent River Williams Road to remove overhead railroad signals.

Drivers should make alternate travel plans, and there will not be a signed detour. If in the area during this work, drivers should be patient and alert to crews working.
