WAKE COUNTY- Starting tonight, contractors plan to begin work on Interstate 40 between Wade Avenue and the I-440 interchange.
Crews plan close two of three lanes of both I-40 East and I-40 West over the next two months to complete the final phases of the I-40 rehabilitation project. The closures will be installed between 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights, avoiding rush hour traffic.
Over the next two weeks and during the same overnight hours, the loop ramp from I-40 West at Exit 293A is scheduled to close. The detour for this ramp closure will have drivers continue on I-40 West to Cary Towne Boulevard (Exit 291) and get back on I-40 East to access Exit 293A toward Cary.
Drivers should allow extra time for their commute and use caution when traveling in the work zone.
