WASHINGTON – A portion of N.C. 32 at the Douglas Crossroads intersection in Beaufort County will be closed to traffic for most of the weekend.
As part of the construction of the new roundabout, the southern portion of Broad Creek Road (N.C. 32) will be closed between 6 a.m. June 8 and 8 p.m. June 9. The closure will allow crews to install a new waterline and drainage pipe.
Traffic on Broad Creek Road will take Black and Neck roads to get around the closure. Barricades, signs, and message boards will be in place to help traffic. Drivers should anticipate a longer commute and be patient and alert when traveling near the construction.
The N.C. Department of Transportation is transforming the U.S. 264 and N.C. 32 intersection into a roundabout. The department builds roundabouts to improve safety and traffic flow. To watch a video and learn more about these types of intersections, visit this webpage.
