BENSON – A portion of N.C. 242 in southwestern Johnston County will be closed for maintenance.
A state highway contractor plans to close the highway between Godwin Lake and Bear roads to thru-traffic to replace an aging crossline drainage pipe and do pavement repairs at the same site.
The closure is expected to run from 9 a.m. Monday until Friday afternoon, June 21, weather permitting.
Detour signs will direct drivers onto Bear, Golda and Godwin Lake roads. People should plan for the longer commute and be cautious of workers or equipment near any barricades.
