STALLINGS – A Union County intersection will temporarily close on Monday to be converted to a roundabout, thanks to a $1 million contract the N.C. Department of Transportation awarded to Charlotte contractor Blythe Development Company.
Contract crews will close the intersection of Lawyers Road at Emerald Lake Drive/Hawthorne Drive for up to seven weeks to allow for roundabout construction.
A marked detour will take drivers from Lawyers Road W. to Stevens Mill Road, Idlewild Road and Mill Grove Road, returning to Lawyers Road.
Other lane closures required for the project must occur during non-peak travel times in the mornings and afternoons, and outside major holidays.
