INDIAN TRAIL – Motorists using Indian Trail-Fairview Road will soon have a longer right turn lane onto Idlewild Road, thanks to a $195,000 contract the N.C. Department of Transportation awarded last month.
The project includes adding 150 feet to the turn lane to allow more vehicle storage. The left and through markings will also be improved on this approach to the intersection.
Contract crews can start later this summer, completing the project this fall. Any lane closures on Indian Trail-Fairview Road, Secrest Shortcut Road and Idlewild Road will be limited to off-peak travel times, and not during any major holidays.
