MORRISVILLE- An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor plans to close two lanes of Interstate 40 East, as well as the on-ramp from Airport Boulevard and off-ramp at Aviation Parkway, so they can restripe the outside lanes of I-40.
Starting Sept. 20 at 8 p.m., crews will close two of four lanes on I-40 and both ramps, weather permitting. Everything is scheduled to reopen by 6 a.m. Saturday.
Traffic needing to access I-40 East from Airport Boulevard should follow signs to take McCrimmon Parkway, Aviation Parkway to eastbound I-40.
Traffic needing to access Aviation Parkway from I-40 East should take Airport Boulevard (Exit 284) then follow signs to McCrimmon Parkway to Aviation Parkway.
Traffic needing to access RDU Airport from I-40 East need to exit Airport Boulevard (Exit 284).
Traffic on I-40 West will not be impacted.
Drivers should remain alert, avoid distractions and obey all posted signs in the work zone.
