ROCKY MOUNT – The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles’ license plate agency (LPA) in south Charlotte will close at 5 p.m. on Nov. 14 after the current operator announced her retirement.
The current agency, at 809 E. Arrowood Rd., in Charlotte, has been operated by Sandra Elliott since 1992. A new agency contractor will be selected and new office serving south Charlotte will open soon.
In the meantime, four nearby license plate agencies offer service Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. except for state holidays:
• Charlotte, 3250-G Wilkinson Blvd. (Shops at Westerly Station)
• Indian Trail, 14015-J E. Independence Blvd. (Indian Trail Village S.C.)
• Monroe, 622 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Suite E (Bundy Square S.C.)
• Gastonia, 246 N. New Hope Rd., Suite 239 (Eastridge Mall)
LPAs offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations. Currently, 123 license plate agencies operate in North Carolina.
