WINSTON SALEM – The North Carolina Department of Transportation is advising drivers of temporary lane closures and detours on U.S. 52 South and N.C. 74 East for pavement marker installation.
Starting tonight, the contractor will close lanes of U.S. 52 South and N.C. 74 East at mile marker 119, beginning at 7:00 pm. The closures will last until 6:00 am the following morning.
Also, at 11:00 pm, U.S. 52 South will be closed, and traffic will be detoured. Drivers will be directed to exit U.S. 52 South onto N.C. 74 East, then proceed to N.C. 66 South and University Parkway, before returning to U.S. 52 South. The detour will be in place until 6:00 am when the road is expected to reopen.
Tomorrow beginning at 7 p.m., and lasting until 6 a.m. the contractor will close lanes on U.S. 52 North and N.C. 74 West, along with a detour on U.S. 52 North between mile markers 118 and 120.
At 11:00 pm, US 52 North will be closed, and traffic will be detoured. Drivers will exit at 115A to University Parkway, N.C. 66, N.C. 74 West, and then return to U.S. 52 North. Work is expected to be complete by 6 a.m.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead, follow posted detour signs, and expect some delays while traveling through the area. NCDOT encourages drivers to remain alert and exercise caution as traffic patterns will be altered.
