CONCORD – A $3.2 million contract awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation this month will bring improvements to nearly nine miles of roads in Cabarrus County.
Contractor NJR Group, Inc. of Albemarle will perform the improvements including milling, resurfacing, shoulder reconstruction, and rumble strip installation. Roads included in the contract are:
- U.S. 601 between Cold Springs and Flowes Store roads
- Flowes Store Road between U.S. 601 and Flowes Store Road East
- Stanly McElrath Road between the Mecklenburg County line and Shiloh Church Road
- Shiloh Church Road between Stanly McElrath and Placid roads, and between Kings Drive and Odell School Road
Any lane closures on U.S. 601 will happen at night between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Closures on other roads will be allowed during daytime non-peak hours and overnight, if necessary.
Work can start as soon as mid-April 2025 with completion scheduled for fall 2026.
