N.C. Department of Transportation Awards Cleveland County Bridge Contract

KINGS MOUNTAIN – The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a $5.2 million contract to replace the bridge on Oak Grove Road over Buffalo Creek between Shelby and Kings Mountain. Contractor Smith-Rowe, LLC. earned the contract last month.

The new bridge will be built downstream and south of the existing bridge, so an offsite detour won't be needed. Flagging operations may be necessary during construction and would be restricted to off-peak hours.

Contract crews can start working as early as this month. The contract calls for the road to reopen in the fall of 2026, with overall completion scheduled for March 2027.
