​STATESVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded two resurfacing contracts to improve approximately thirty miles of interstate, primary and secondary routes in Iredell County. Contractor Maymead Inc. earned both contracts last month.
The first contract for $7.6 million includes pavement rehabilitation along four miles of Interstate 77 between mile markers 52.6 and 56.7. Lane and ramp closures on I-77 will be restricted to overnight hours. Contract crews can start as soon as April 15 with completion scheduled for fall of 2026.
The second contract totaling $6.3 million takes care of resurfacing work for more than 25 miles of roads throughout the county. One section of U.S. 70 will be improved between Wall Street and Nabors Road in Statesville, along with 31 sections of secondary roads. Work can start as early as this week with contract completion scheduled for fall 2026.
