ALBEMARLE – Drivers will soon have a smoother ride on three sections of U.S. 52 and a portion of Newt Road in Stanly County, thanks to a $1.8 million resurfacing contract the N.C. Department of Transportation awarded in January.
The following sections are slated for resurfacing:
- U.S. 52
- from Prospect Road to Walnut Drive in Albemarle
- from Austin Road to N.C. 740 in New London
- from Lavasque Street to N.C. 49 in Richfield
- Newt Road
- from N.C. 24/27 to Canton Road in Albemarle
The contractor, J.T. Russell & Sons Inc. of Albemarle, can start work as early as next week and complete the project in the fall of 2026.
