ROCKY MOUNT – The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles will open a new license plate agency (LPA) on May 5 in Surf City.
The new agency is located at 2634 N.C. Hwy. 210 E., Suite 205, at the Shoppes at the Promenade, and will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, except on state holidays. The office will be operated by Jessica and Bobby Straughn, who also operate the LPAs in Wallace and at South Square Plaza on Carolina Beach Rd. in Wilmington.
In North Carolina, NCDMV oversees LPAs, but the agencies are managed by private businesses or local governments.
LPAs offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags, handicap placards and duplicate registrations. There are 127 license plate agencies operating across North Carolina.
