NCDOT Hosts Mobility Hub Design Workshop in Henderson

RALEIGH – People are invited to learn more about plans in Henderson for a mobility hub, which is a centralized location people can use to access different modes of transportation such as passenger rail and public transportation.

The N.C. Department of Transportation and the city of Henderson will host two open houses for the Henderson Mobility Hub on May 13 and 14.

The public is encouraged to attend to engage with the NCDOT and the project team. People are invited to participate in a design charrette activity and provide feedback on the designs, amenities, aesthetics, and scale of the proposed mobility hub. There will also be an informative video to help understand the S-Line project and learn more about mobility hubs.

Below is a schedule for the open houses in Henderson:

  • May 13, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Farm Bureau Room of the Perry Memorial Library, 205 Breckenridge St.

  • May 14, Noon – 2 p.m. at the Former First National Bank Building, 213 S. Garnett St. (this is the proposed site for the mobility hub)

As part of the S-Line rail project, NCDOT's Integrated Mobility Division is studying design options for mobility hubs in several communities, including Henderson.

A mobility hub is a public facility with regional and local transportation options, that also offers related mobility facilities, amenities, and services. These hubs offer choices to get users where they need to go and make it easier to transfer from one form of travel, such as walking or biking, to another, such as using a bus or shuttle.
