WINSTON SALEM – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close a lane of Interstate 40 East in Forsyth County as part of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway project.
Beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, I-40 East will be reduced to one lane between High Point Road (mile marker 198) and Exit 201 (Union Cross Road). This closure will continue until 7 a.m. Saturday morning.
This closure is required as crews will be working to install a glare screen on the concrete barrier wall.
On the following night, beginning Saturday at 7 p.m., I-40 East will again be reduced to one lane between High Point Road and Exit 201, as crews complete the work. This closure will continue until 9 a.m. Sunday morning.
To avoid the work zone, drivers are encouraged to use U.S. 421 (Salem Parkway). Drivers may also use I-74 to Union Cross Road to travel around the work zone.
Drivers should remain alert and prepare for potential delays when using detour routes and adapting to new traffic patterns.
