Public Invited to Public Meeting for Asheville Greenway

ASHEVILLE - The N.C. Department of Transportation and City of Asheville invite the public to a meeting from 4-7 p.m. on May 28th at Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville.

The open meeting is regarding a proposal by NCDOT and the City to extend the Wilma Dykeman Greenway to the north along the French Broad River. The purpose of the meeting is to introduce the preliminary designs and gather public input.

The 1.3-mile proposed section will connect the existing greenway south of Hill Street and extend to Pearson Bridge Road. This greenway will provide an important northern connection in the larger greenway network that makes up the River Arts District Transportation Improvement Project (RADTIP).

The City of Asheville received funding from the French Broad River MPO for greenway design and construction. NCDOT is overseeing project administration and construction.
