HILLSBOROUGH- A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close the Interstate 85 South ramp to Interstate 40 East starting at 11 p.m. Sunday as part of the I-40 Widening Project in Orange County.
The closure is expected to last about three months, weather permitting. The work is necessary for bridge repairs and pavement replacement.
A signed detour will guide drivers to use the I-85/U.S. 70 connector at Exit 161 to access I-40 East.
Motorists should plan ahead, allow extra travel time and use caution in the work zone.
NCDOT encourages drivers to visit DriveNC.gov for real-time traffic updates and project information.
