Hurricane Season Begins
As summer quickly approaches, so does the start of Hurricane season.
June 1 is the official start to Hurricane season and the N.C. Department of Transportation is prepped and ready.
North Carolinians know all too well the impact Hurricanes can have, most recently with Hurricane Helene in the western part of our state.
That’s why NCDOT is ready to mobilize before, during and after a storm threatens our state.

100 Deadliest Days of Summer
We’ve entered a dangerous time on the road, known as the 100 deadliest days of summer.
The time between Memorial Day and Labor Day sees a significant spike in deadly crashes for teen drivers.
NCDOT urges teens and everyone behind the wheel to slow down, put away your phones, don’t drink and drive and always wear a seat belt.

Saturday DMV Hours
The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles Saturday walk-in service hours return this weekend.
20 offices will now offer services from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturdays from May 31 – Aug. 23.
The division has added four new offices this year, in Elizabeth City, Clayton, Durham East and Kernersville.
Last summer, nearly 17,000 customers were served on Saturdays.
