WINSTON-SALEM - A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close a lane of Interstate 40 East in Forsyth County as part of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway project.
Beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, I-40 East will be reduced to one lane approaching High Point Road (mile marker 198). This closure will continue until 5 a.m. tomorrow.
This closure is required as crews will install new guardrail at the bridge over High Point Road.
To avoid the work zone, drivers are encouraged to use U.S. 421 South (Salem Parkway). Eastbound I-40 drivers may also exit onto I-74 East (Exit 196) to Union Cross Road to travel around the work zone.
Drivers should remain alert and prepare for potential delays when using detour routes and adapting to new traffic patterns.
