WINSTON-SALEM – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close the ramp from Union Cross Road to Interstate 40 West in Forsyth County as part of the ongoing Winston-Salem Northern Beltway project.
Beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, the ramp from Union Cross Road to I-40 West will be closed for approximately 45 days. This closure is necessary to allow crews to construct a new ramp that will connect to the new alignment of I-40 West. The new ramp is expected to open by August 5, weather permitting.
Detour Information:
- Northbound Union Cross Road motorists wishing to access I-40 West should follow the signed detour: take I-40 East to N.C. 66 (Exit 203) and return via I-40 West.
- Southbound Union Cross Road motorists should follow the signed detour via Union Cross Road to I-74 West, then merge onto I-40 West.
Drivers are urged to use caution while traveling through the area, follow all posted detour signs, and plan for possible delays.
