CURRITUCK – The N.C. Department of Transportation's Ferry Division will temporarily suspend weekday service on its Currituck-Knotts Island ferry route beginning the morning of June 23 for replacement and repair of the fender systems at both terminals.
The fender system includes the rubber materials installed on terminal pilings to protect boats and pilings while vessels are docking.
The fender work will run through the week of June 23-27, with the route resuming service the weekend of June 28-29. The route will again suspend service on June 30 while the work is completed, with service scheduled to fully resume July 3.
