RALEIGH - Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation plan to move large bridge girders along Western Boulevard this weekend, requiring periodic ramp closures and other temporary traffic impacts.
The work will start near the I-440 East off-ramp (Exit 2) and continue on Western Boulevard to Blue Ridge Road.
The ramp will close every so often as crews move four girders Saturday and three on Sunday, starting at 8 a.m. each day and continuing until the move is complete.
Law enforcement will be on site to direct traffic both days.
