WINSTON-SALEM – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will close the right lane of Interstate 40 West as part of the ongoing Winston Salem Northern Beltway project.
Beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, the right lane of I-40 West between Union Cross Road (Exit 201) and High Point Road (Exit 198), will be closed and is expected to reopen by 7 a.m. Aug. 9, weather permitting.
The closure is necessary for crews to safely set posts for a proposed noise wall near High Point Road.
Drivers are urged to use caution while traveling through the area, follow all posted detour signs, and plan for possible delays.
