Roundabout Construction Starting on Yadkin County Road

YADKINVILLE – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will begin work next week on two new roundabouts for Speer Bridge Road at U.S. 421.

Triangle Grading & Paving of Burlington will begin Monday, Aug. 18, on the first of two roundabouts near the interchange. The $1.4 million project will improve safety and traffic flow in the area.

Crews will close the U.S. 421 South ramps and Speer Bridge Road over U.S. 421 while they build the first roundabout. This closure will remain in place until the first roundabout is complete, then they will close the U.S. 421 North ramps and begin work on the second roundabout.

A signed detour will guide drivers around the closure using Dinkins Bottom Road, Old U.S. 421 and Coutney-Huntsville Road.

The contract calls for the project to be finished in summer 2026.
